Palmyra Area Middle School Bulletin for Tuesday, March 28, 2017

TODAY IS Monday, March 27, 2017. It is Cycle Day 4 – School Day 130.

SCHOOL WILL NOW BE IN SESSION ON THURSDAY, APRIL 13 AND MONDAY, APRIL 17 DUE TO SNOW DAY MAKE-UPS.

SUBSTITUTES FOR TODAY: Mrs. Nolen (1/2 PM) for Miss Barnhart, Mrs. Hoffman (1/2 PM) for Mrs. Flury. ABSENT WITH NO COVERAGE: Mrs. Burrows, Mrs. Foran, Mrs. Ward (1/2 PM), Mrs. Hauck (AM).

Menu for today: Hot turkey and cheese on a pretzel roll, honey glazed carrots and pear slices. Menu for tomorrow: Beef Tostada, fiesta black beans and fruit juice.

SPORTS: MS Track at home; V & J Boys’ Tennis at home; V & J Boys’ Volleyball at CD East. ​

Cheering tryouts will be held for any 5th, 6th, or 7th grader interested in cheering for the 2017-18 season. Tryouts will be held at Lingle Avenue Elementary gym on Tuesday, April 4th-6:00-8:00 pm (practice); Wednesday, April 5th-6:00-8:00 pm (practice); Thursday, April 6th-6:00-8:00 pm (tryouts). Attention Boys: Any Middle School Boy interested in learning to play volleyball and playing in the Middle School Boy's Volleyball League this spring should attend an informational meeting in the Middle School's lobby on Thursday, March 30th at 3:00 pm. It will be a short meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, the information will be available in the Middle School office after the meeting date.

Phoenix Center will be closing at 5:30 every Thursday through April 6.

End of the 3rd marking period TOMORROW, Tuesday, March 28. Report cards will be distributed on April 13.

There will be a brief Paws for a Cause meeting on Wednesday, March 29th to discuss upcoming Relay information. Please plan on being there if you want to learn more about the Relay for Life event on May 12th-13th.

Palmyra-Haiti members are asked to please check their Gmail accounts for important information about the scavenger hunt and other news.

Attention All Student Council Members….. The next Student Council meeting is on April 5th from 2:45 to 3:30 in Mrs. Mason’s room, Room 215. Please try to make this meeting. We will be discussing and finalizing the details of the Run. Please have rides arranged for after the meeting. Continue to check your Google Classroom for more important information.

The Peer Mentor Club will meet on Wednesday, March 29, from 2:45-3:15. Please remind your parents that you will be staying after on Wednesday and you will need transportation home. If you signed up but can’t stay, please let the Guidance Office know before Wednesday. Please have all materials that you will need with you when you report to the classroom.

All students are required to take the PSSA tests. 6th and 7th grade students are required to take all portions of the Math and ELA tests, and all 8th grade students much take all sections of the Math, ELA and Science tests for the 2016-2017 school year. The testing dates for the PSSA's are as follows: English Language Arts (ELA): Monday April 3rd-Thursday April 6th Math: Monday April 24th-Thursday April 26th. Science: Monday May 1st- Tuesday May 2nd. Testing begins first period and usually occurs until approximately 10:00am-10:15am. All students are allowed extended time on any test section as needed, so if your student needs that extra time they may continue to test past the 10:00 time. If your student is absent on any testing days, they will need to make up that portion of the test. If you have any questions, please contact the guidance office at the middle school.
